ANTHONY OLIVER Founder and Board Chairman

Anthony Oliver is a purpose-driven entrepreneur dedicated to creating meaningful economic opportunities for low-to-moderate-income communities. By leveraging both not-for-profit and for-profit business models, his mission centers on improving earned income potential and housing stability for underserved populations.

In 2002, Anthony founded Community Venture Investment Corporation (CVIC), a for-profit S-Corp designed as part of a “stair step to greater economic stability” continuum. He firmly believes that homelessness and poverty cannot be addressed with a one-size-fits-all solution. Real progress demands the integration of social services with wealth-creation enterprises such as affordable

housing and small business development. Housing programs alone are not self-sustainable—true community transformation requires the intersection of affordable living, growing incomes, and intentional small business growth.

This approach ensures that communities are not just surviving but thriving, with increased consumer spending driving long-term sustainability. Today, with the support of dedicated community partners, CVIC is embarking on its most ambitious project yet: the site control and economic redevelopment of the east side of 65th and Cottage Grove in Chicago’s historic Woodlawn neighborhood. This $60 million initiative will transform a once-neglected business corridor into a vibrant hub that blends residential and commercial spaces. It’s a project designed not just for today, but for generations to come, with the goal of creating self-sufficiency and growth for current residents.

The New CVIC Website

This new website represents a fresh beginning—a “tabula rasa,” or blank slate. It’s an open invitation for everyone to join this historic movement. Roll up your sleeves, lend your hands, and be part of building something extraordinary from the ground up. While this is uncharted territory, Anthony is confident that with faith and collective effort, GOD has something incredible to reveal to the world.

Welcome to the “New Lifestyles on the Grove” initiative—a bold step toward unity, progress, and community renewal. Together, as one family, we can create a brighter future!

Prior to establishing Community Venture Investment Corporation, Anthony led foundational development of a not-for-profit called StreetWise Newspaper. Streetwise was founded in 1992 and continues to strive today. Its mission was to economically help homeless men and women to help themselves using a “free-market” approach. Today (over10,000 since inception) they continue to sell the newspapers in communities all across Chicago creating an earned income opportunity. Please see the 1995, Emmy award winning documentary by Bill Glader, called “Inside Streetwise” for a indepth look at its formation and successful development. Its “free market” approach is the genesis of what Oliver calls “stair steps to greater stability continuum”.
